Begin the conversation you have rehearsed but avoided. Start with your own responsibility.
Start by listening
Try one honest question: What has been hardest lately? What are you tempted to hide here? What would truthful next obedience look like before we meet again?
Listen before fixing. Speak truth without taking the role of counselor, investigator, or savior. Abuse, violence, self-harm, criminal conduct, and clinical needs require responsible authorities and qualified professional or pastoral care.
Do not walk unknown.
